Event Information:
The
Chinese New Year the Year of
the Rabbit comes to Sydney and to
the rest of the world in
February. A highlight of the Sydney
Chinese New Year Festival this year,
as on previous years, is the Chinese
New Year parade on February 6. The
Sydney parade takes place at
twilight and starts at Sydney Town
Hall, then proceeds through
Chinatown to Darling Harbour. A
Chinese New Year fireworks display
takes place at Darling Harbour after
the parade.
The
Sydney Chinese New Year
Festival opened on January 28 with
the holding of the Festival Markets
at Belmore Park adjacent to Central
Station until January 30. The year's
festival ends on February 13.

City of Sydney's annual Chinese New
Year Festival is the largest Lunar
New Year celebration outside of
Asia. Anchored by a major street
parade of international standard,
the Festival includes more than 40
fantastic events produced by arts
organisations, museums and community
groups celebrating the Lunar New
Year.
Highlights of this year's Festival
include the official launch, Chinese
New Year Markets, Chinese New Year
Twilight Parade and Dragon Boat
Races.
