Event Information:
The
Amsterdam Dance Event is a
conference for electronic music and
a large-scale club event festival
based in the city of Amsterdam, in
the Netherlands. The festival is
held annually in mid-October and
takes place in 40 clubs spread all
over the city. At daytime the
festival is a platform for business
and knowledge exchange for
international electronic music
industry professionals and at
nighttime it is a club event hosting
concerts and DJ acts in night clubs,
night cafes and bars all over the
city of Amsterdam.
Born
as a small conference in 1996 with
only approximately hundred visitors
and thirty DJs hosting, the ADE
started as a daytime conference that
extended to nighttime club events
the following three venues: Paradiso,
Melkweg and Club Escape. Over time
it augmented its scale and opened
the gates for other clubs such as
Panama, Sugar Factory and Bitterzoet.
The ADE still serves as a networking
platform for music professionals,
DJs, club promotors, artists and
labels combined with a dance event
including thousand dj-sets every
night during the festival.
Similar to the Miami Winter Music
Conference, the Amsterdam Dance
Event is staged around discussion
panels and a gathering of artists.
As part of the festival, the ADE
NEXT is a platform for knowledge
exchange for uprising DJs, producers
and professional labels and bookers.
Paradiso is an iconic rock music
venue and cultural center in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is
housed in a converted former church
building that dates from the
nineteenth century and that was used
until 1965 as the meeting hall for a
liberal Dutch religious group known
as the "Vrije Gemeente" (Free
Congregation). It is located on de
Weteringschans, bordering the
Leidseplein, one of the nightlife
and tourism centers of the city. The
main concert hall in the former
church interior has high ceilings
and two balcony rings overlooking
the stage area, with three large
illuminated church windows above the
stage. The acoustics are rather
echoey, but improvements have been
made over the years. In addition to
the main concert hall, there are two
smaller cafe stages, on an upper
floor and in the basement.
