Event Information:
In
1559, after surviving a treacherous
journey across ferocious seas,
Spanish conquistador Don Tristan De
Luna made landfall on what we know
as Pensacola Beach, FL. Upon
landing, De Luna and his crew threw
a party. It was (literally) the
beach party to end all beach parties
since the settlement was blown away
by a hurricane a few months later.
In 2010, America’s original beach
party was officially revived with
the launch of DeLuna Fest. For
three-days, music fans can dance on
the sugar white sands of Pensacola
Beach, revel in a diverse mix of
live beach-friendly bands and
musicians, and admire Florida’s
breathtaking sunsets. DeLuna Fest
celebrates Pensacola’s rich heritage
and raises a toast to America’s
original settlement.
DeLuna Fest returns September 21 -
23, with four stages (two
directly on the Pensacola Beach
sand) and a top-notch display of
live music featuring a diverse blend
of genres. Pensacola Beach is an
unincorporated community located on
Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island,
in Escambia County, Florida, United
States. It is situated south of
Pensacola, and Gulf Breeze connected
via bridges spanning to the
Fairpoint Peninsula and then to the
island, on the Gulf of Mexico. As of
the 2000 census, the community had a
total population of 2,738.
Pensacola Beach occupies land bound
by a 1947 deed from the United
States Department of Interior that
it be administered in the public
interest by the county or leased,
but never "disposed"; its businesses
and residents are thus long-term
leaseholders and not property
owners.
