Event Information:
In every year since 1991, March has
been proclaimed Irish-American
Heritage Month by the US Congress or
President due to the date of St.
Patrick's Day. Today, Saint
Patrick's Day is widely celebrated
in America by Irish and non-Irish
alike.
Dallas each year since 1981 hosts a
St Patrick's Day parade and after
party has been held on Lower
Greenville Avenue. The parade is
held the Saturday before St.
Patrick's Day with thousands of
spectators and partiers lining the
streets. It is the biggest St.
Patrick's Day parade and festival in
the Southwest. There is also a run
before the parade on Greenville.
The
Dallas St Patrick's Day parade runs
southbound on Greenville avenue from
Blackwell street to Yale boulevard
featuring floats, performers,
costumes and animals.
Start
with the Dash Down Greenville,
from the Central Market Greenville
Avenue & Lover's Lane, Dallas.
Whether you want to run or just have
fun the annual Dash Down Greenville
Avenue is the 5K that has it all.
The annual DDG is more than just
another 5k run as it is the kick off
of Dallas' St. Patrick's Day
celebration. The day includes great
live music, incredible food and
beverages, a wild parade, the
opportunity to contribute to a
worthy cause (The North Texas Food
Bank) and that all adds up to great
times for you, your friends and
family.
