Description:
View of the beach at Surfers
Paradise, on the Gold Coast in
Queensland
Location Information:
A lengthy stretch of glorious white
sand, the beach at Surfer's Paradise
is truly eye catching, not least
because of the rows of shoreline
hugging skyscrapers that give the
place a look more reminiscent of big
US coastal cities like Miami.
Popular with locals and tourists
alike, as well as being a well worn
stop on the backpacker trial,
Surfer's attracts millions of
visitors every year, and fortunately
managed to remain largely clear of
the hurrican damage that affected
other large parts of the Queensland
coast. If you're looking for a
webcam view that combines sea, sand
and sunshine with a lively beach
front populated by large number of
surfers and sunbathers, then the
view a Surfer's Paradise is hard to
beat.
Surfers Paradise is a suburb on the
Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
At the 2006 Census, Surfers Paradise
had a population of 18,501.
Colloquially known as 'Surfers', the
suburb has many high-rise apartment
buildings and a wide surf beach. The
feature of the central business
district is Cavill Mall, which runs
through the shopping precinct.
Cavill Avenue, named after Jim
Cavill, an early hotel owner, is one
of the busiest shopping strips in
Queensland, and the centre of
activity for night life. It's the
best known feature of the Gold
Coast's skyline. Burleigh and
Coolangatta also have skyscrapers,
though shorter and fewer.
