The
NBA Finals was the championship
series of the –12 season of the
National Basketball Association
(NBA) and the conclusion of the
season's playoffs. The Eastern
Conference champion Miami Heat
defeated the Western Conference
champion Oklahoma City Thunder, 4–1,
to win their second NBA title.
Miami's LeBron James was named the
Finals MVP. Parade details:
Monday, June 25, from 9 a.m. ET
until 12:30 p.m. ET. The team
celebration is inside the American
Airlines Arena at 12:30 p.m. The
parade will begin at the corner of
Southwest 8th Street and Second
Avenue, move through Brickell to the
Intercontinental Hotel to Bicayne
Boulevard before ending at the AAA.
The
Miami Heat are a professional
basketball team based in Miami,
Florida, United States. The team is
a member of the Southeast Division
in the Eastern Conference of the
National Basketball Association
(NBA). They play their home games at
American Airlines Arena in Downtown
Miami. This is the second
consecutive appearance for the Heat,
after losing to the Dallas Mavericks
in . Their other Finals
appearance was in 2006 when they
defeated the Mavericks to win their
only NBA title. In the regular
season, the Heat finished with 46
victories, then defeated the New
York Knicks (4–1), Indiana Pacers
(4–2) and Boston Celtics (4–3) on
their way to the Finals.
The
Heat retained much of the same cast
from last year, save for rookies
Terrel Harris and Norris Cole, Eddy
Curry (not expected to play), Shane
Battier, and Ronny Turiaf, who was a
member of the Los Angeles Lakers
team that lost in the Finals to the
Boston Celtics in 2008. The Oklahoma
City Thunder are a professional
basketball franchise based in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They play
in the Northwest Division of the
Western Conference in the National
Basketball Association (NBA); their
home court is at Chesapeake Energy
Arena. This will be the Thunder's
first NBA Finals appearance since
they relocated in 2008 from Seattle.
Including their seasons as the
Seattle SuperSonics, this will be
the club's fourth Finals appearance,
and first since 1996, when they lost
to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago
Bulls. They will be seeking their
first NBA championship since 1979.
